Eurockot Attains Operational Readiness
The Commercial Demonstration Flight (CDF) from Plesetsk Cosmodrome in May 2000 marked Eurockot's and the Rockot-KM launch vehicle's operational debut. The mission simulated a typical LEO mission lofting two identical satellite simulators (SIMSAT-1 and 2) into a near polar orbit.
Mission Goals Accomplished
The Commercial Demonstration Flight demonstrated the following:
- The operational readiness of the dedicated and new Rockot launch and support facilities at Plesetsk;
- The operational readiness of the commercial Rockot-KM launch vehicle including the Breeze-KM upper stage and new 2-piece payload fairing.
Upon successful completion of this mission, the Rockot-KM launch system was declared ready for commercial operations from Plesetsk.
