Rockot Successfully Orbits Russian Federal Satellites
A Rockot launch vehicle successfully orbited three Gonets satellites for the Russian Ministry of Defence on May 23, 2014. Lift-off and subsequent phases of the payload injection were nominal. The Breeze-KM upper stage separated the satellites at the predicted times. The launch was concluded with a nominal de-orbit burn of the Breeze upper stage. The launch took place at 09:27 Moscow time from Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Northern Russia.
This was the first launch of a Rockot in 2014. Rockot has so far performed 21 launches, namely 10 Federal launches since 2005 and 11 launches for Eurockot Launch Services GmbH, all of which took place from Plesetsk. Further Federal launches using Rockot are planned for this year. The next mission of Eurockot is scheduled for summer 2015 with the launch of Sentinel-3A for the European Space Agency and the European Union as part of the Copernicus programme. The order backlog of Eurockot furthermore comprises the launches of Sentinel-2B and Sentinel-5p in 2016.
